Update: I have read the dealership’s public response and feel it is necessary to clarify several factual inaccuracies.

Firstly, I did not request to keep the plates. The reason I left without plates is because the dealership could not provide a Roadworthy Certificate on a Saturday, and therefore could not legally sell the vehicle with Victorian registration. A transit permit was arranged — this is documented in the contract the dealer signed himself, under “Deductions: PERMIT.” I still have the permit.

Secondly, the dealership’s own Google listing states Saturday closing time is 7PM now and then. The timeline described in their response does not align with their own advertised hours.

Thirdly, the contract of sale, signed by the dealer, clearly states “NO REG, NO ROADWORTHY, AS IS.” This is the dealer’s own documentation.

I have retained all documentation including the contract, permit, registration records, and complete message history.

I came in as a genuine customer and left a 5 star review at the time. I did not expect to be publicly misrepresented when I raised legitimate concerns.

Again I wish this had been handled with more grace. 💔

Honestly I’m quite sad writing this review because Macca was so warm and friendly when we first came in. At that point I only needed a temporary car for interstate travel, so I actually had plans to come back and purchase again in the future. It felt like a trustworthy place back then.

But then a few months later (just recently) I received a message asking me to “hand in the plates (also mentioned lots of scary things that I don’t have any idea of)”… which left me very confused, because I never even had the plates? Never touched them? Didn’t know the plate number even? Drove the car out of the yard without any plate. The contract I signed also says NO REG... 🙂

To be fair the car itself has been not bad, (there are some small questions I kindly texted to ask after purchase, but never got any response though) anyway not much complaints there.

It’s just the administrative side of things that has left me quite lost and honestly a little heartbroken. Based on other reviews here it seems like registration and VicRoads transfer issues come up quite a bit with this dealership, which makes me wonder if it’s something that could be looked into.

I really wanted to be a returning customer, I even called trying to enquire about another newly listed car on their website just few weeks ago (However the call was not answered nor got a call back though). Anyway I don’t know if that 2nd purchase would be happening now. 🥺

Just make sure everything on the VicRoads side is properly sorted before you drive away. This could be handled with more grace.
