Well I'd love to have given this hotel a good review as it came recommended. Where do I start with HOW BAD it was today? Arrived for Saturday lunch, went to the bar to order, service was so so, no notification that there were extensive wait times for meals. Returned to our table and waited with the dozen other tables of guests waiting for over an hour to even be approached by a staff member. I finally managed to speak to someone who organised that we would recive our meals within the next 20 minutes. Meals were arriving cold or partially cooked (chips 🍟) and sent back. Entrees, were taking 90 minutes to arrive! Other customers were getting up and leaving and telling new arrivals not to order meals! Finally, our meals arrived and looked awful. The Barramundi Special portion was tiny, the fish itself was soggy and awful. It looked and smelt like cat food. I have a head cold and had taken a swig of some lovely fire water from a local store while we were waiting so when I cut into my (overcooked / burnt) Chicken Schnitzel it wasn't immediately apparent that it was off. It didn't taste right and after two or three mouthfuls I asked my husband to try it and it was revolting. When we took the breaded crust off it smelt really rotton. I immediately went to the bar and asked for a manager to come and see the quality of the meals. My husband told her the chicken was off and / or contaminated, the manger smelt it and immediately offered us a refund. Unfortunately I had eaten a few mouthfuls before realising. Yes, she immediately refunded our meals and gave us a complimentary drink which I vomited up a short time later, but wow something is seriously bad in that kitchen. Totally ruined our day, the drive home was horrendous as we had to stop frequently due to me needing a bathroom and I feel fortunate that I have avoided a very bad dose of food poisoning. No photos to add as the meals were removed immediately by the manager. I get teething problems and staffing issues, I work in hospitality. What is totally unacceptable is serving food that is substandard and / or off!! I'd give a minus review if I could!!
