Unfortunately, I had a difficult time with both Mark and Linda. I went to Benchmark Kitchen and Bath with a kitchen and bath renovation, and expressed to Linda that this was my first time going through this type of project and that I worked best with high communication. Linda pushed on several occasions to add a vanity to my bathroom, which I didn't want to do. Several months into the design of the project, she told me she couldn't design my bathroom because I wasn't purchasing a vanity for it. This left me designing the bathroom myself with little guidance from a designer, which I was looking to have for this project. Additionally, there came a point when Linda told me to stop making changes to the design of the kitchen; I felt this was unprofessional given the importance of the designs for a renovation. Further, when the renovation began, there wasn't enough tile or crown molding ordered for the kitchen, which dragged out the completion date.

When the cabinets were delivered, several of them arrived damaged. Mark became my point of contact for this. He reassured me that customer service was their number one priority; however, I found him to be quite dismissive and unprofessional. For example, one of the cabinet doors that arrived damaged was supposed to be swapped out for a new door. The company sent him two doors, one of which was damaged and one that was not. Mark installed the damaged door and left the undamaged door on my counter. When I brought this to his attention, he was dismissive of any accountability on his part, and told me to keep the backup door for swapping out at a later time. I felt this response was quite unprofessional, and not reflective of his reassurance that customer service is his number one priority.

I understand these projects are rarely seamless and there is a chance of unforeseen circumstances and honest mistakes. However, if you're someone who values communication and respectful partnerships, please look elsewhere.
